When was the last time you did nothing in life? Nothing, as in literally, nothing. No checking the phone, no replying to texts, no clicking selfies, no talking to anyone, no writing or reading, no exercising, no listening to music... doing just nothing. Never? Well then, visit these little-known beaches and just laze around. Wade in the clear water, run on the sand, day-dream, listen to waves and just relax, doing nothing! When the beach is less known but exotic, it adds to the charm of being where the land meets the ocean, or vice versa.

Here is our pick of the 5 of the best less-known but exotic beaches in Karnataka.

   1.ECO BEACH at KASARKOD

How to reach the Eco Beach : It is just two kms after the Sharavathi Bridge, Honnavar and easy to find.  After crossing the bridge towards Bhatkal on NH 17, you can see the direction boards at your right side.
From Bangalore, take the direct bus to honnavara .From there you can take an auto or taxi to this beach.
It is a 5 km long beach in one stretch with white sand and transparent water in the month of December till March. The entire beach coast line is covered by Casuarina and coconut trees, unparallel to any beach of India, and has the big potential to develop beach tourism like the Baga-Calangute-Candolim beach of Goa.
The eco-beach was developed jointly by the Tourism and Forest Department of Karnataka and Kasarkod Village Forest Committee to promote Eco tourism in coastal areas. The main attraction of the Kasarkod beach is the large Casuarina plantation which has developed into a thick forest by the side of the beach, stretching up to a few kilometres on the sea shore, and provides a thick green cover. This Casuarina plantation has become an added advantage for the development of Eco beach.
After entering the Eco beach park area, green lawn facing the sea attracts us.
This is so far the best less-known beach in Karnataka with very-less crowded people even during the summer.
2. PADUBIDRI BEACH, UDUPI

Padubidri beach is approximately a kilometre away from the Padubidri Nagaraj Estate bus stop(padubidri town).
If one wants to avoid crowded beaches and spend time quietly and peacefully, then this is the best beach to visit. This long stretch of clean and quiet beach is an ideal place to spend the evenings. As the sun sets in, the nearby lighthouses in Kapu and Suratkal start flashing and the gentle breeze and the white surf brings you close to the nature. During certain days of the year one can watch both sunset in the west and the moon rise from the east simultaneously. During the monsoon season the sea turns violent and it is interesting to watch huge waves hitting the shore lines. During the non-monsoon season, the sea is calm and it is safe for swimming. One can watch people enjoy fishing with the long fishing lines. For people who need solitude, padubidri is a perfect getaway.
3.HALF MOON BEACH,GOKARNA

Om Beach
HOW TO REACH GOKARNA : The nearest airport is Dabolim, in Goa. From there it's a four hour drive south to Gorkana. Alternatively, trains on the Konkan railway stop at Gokarna Road station, 15 minutes from town, as well as Kumta and Ankola stations, both around 25 kilometers (16 miles) from Gokarna. Gokarna is also well connected by bus from major cities such as Madgaon in Goa, and Mangalore and Bangalore in Karnataka.
This beach is a scenic 30 minute hike away  through the hills and over rocks, or a short boat ride away from Kudle beach. Kudle Beach is for those who want to be around other travelers because Om Beach is the most happening beach, and is the only one that's reachable by car or auto rickshaw.  However, this means that it attracts plenty of rowdy domestic tourists and locals, particularly on weekends, and unfortunately the men don't always behave themselves. Therefore, laid-back Kudle Beach is a preferable alternative for those who want to be around other travelers. This Kudle beach is situated in between Gokarna and Om beaches, and can be reached in 20 minutes from Om beach or by a short downhill walk from drop-off points and from there it is a 30 min hike or a short boat ride(whichever is comfortable) Half moon beach is more peaceful and calm.and is also less crowded.
